There was a point in time where I wanted to try this whole ‘fashion blogging’ thing, you know stand in front of a camera in front of some classic Notting Hill street looking like I know what I’m talking about. Then I realised I’m pretty clueless when it comes to fashion, because all I wear is some joggers and tops whilst subsided on my bed like the sloth I am.
Then I thought, it can’t just be me whose like this, lets be real. And, like with anything, it’s hard to know where to go and how expensive to go. So thought I’d share my favourite bits of lounge wear. I know, you’re probably thinking ‘but it’s just loungewear??’ but I think it goes within the whole ‘self care’ business. Having that particular set of clothing which is specifically for relaxing and taking time for yourself, it helps to pivot you from one mindset to another. So, without further ado…
Joggers go without saying, they’re comfy you can get thinner ones or thicker ones depending on what time of year it is and you can wear them out in public – joggers are a godsend. It took me so long to finally buy some, I just never knew which ones to buy but now I think I have found my two favourites.
The first ones are these lounge pants from the brand Jockey. Of course in the very Emily colour of grey. And before I say anymore – these are the softest things ever. I kid you not. You can just tell from the feel how well made they are and how snug they will be. These are perfect for all year round because they’re so light weight but still will keep you warm and cosy in the autumn winter weather. Also, what’s a pair of joggers without some nice little details hey? You may not be parading the streets but you can still appreciate the details (and you can take like 1000 Instagrams, of course) I love the buttons at the front, it gives this British, country vibe which I’m all about and a good old draw string in case you need to tighten the waist and they’re generally a lovely detail. They also have pockets so you can still keep your phone or lip balm on you!
They come in at about £51 which is a lot however definitely worth it with the quality at a Jack Wills or Nike standard I’d say. These are perfect for nights in, lazy days, that time of the month and even sleeping in – they’re an all rounder really.
My second faves are these pain black pair from H&M, which are more cost effective coming in at £10 and are definitely more than worth the price. They’re slightly thicker I’d say, which is never a bad thing, just something to remember. I got them in the second very Emily colour, black.
I’ve had them for nearly a year now and they’ve lasted me well, being slightly thicker the materials started to ‘bobble’ as I call it, but it’s fixable. But they’re still so comfy and easy to wear around the house. They also have a drawstring in case (and again with the details), these joggers have all the basic Pinterest and Instagram vibes and for only a tenner? Perfect for a lounge around the house kinda day or if you’re popping to the shop, personally I couldn’t sleep in them but that’s each to their own.
A good simple top which is breathable, easy to layer and of course hella cute. To be fair, 90% of my wardrobe are just plain and simple tops, but these are a few of my faves.
Of course, a plain white tee. Something I wear constantly. This one is from H&M and is about £7 and is the comfiest thing. I’ve repurchased it quite a few times now, it’s always the one I go back to. To be fair I also love the tops from Zara too, but this top has just been a constant. You can match these with some cute bralettes to add a little something something (plus bralettes are so comfy, but more on that later.) All in all, you can’t go wrong with a top like this, something for dressing up or dressing down with joggers or short, or even for sleeping in.
A good crop top or halter top is also a staple, their breezy and light, and great for spring and summer time. The first one is from Primark for about £6 and is slightly longer but still so breathable and light, the second is from Topshop for about £6 and is really loose fitting and kind of give ‘off duty’ vibes. Again its simple and easy to match with anything and is so comy – need I say more?
Particularly – Calvins. Gurl, if you haven’t got yourself some Calvin Kleins what. are. you. doing. Okay, yes, they do cost £30 but are so worth it. Not to mention the fact they are so aesthetically pleasing they are super cosy. It just feels like its not there which is the whole point of bralettes, freedom but not completely free. And you can wear them both around the house or out and about, and forever be comfy. And Calvins are the kings of loungewear. I wear them under tops, jumpers, peeking out of crop tops even on there own if I’m feelin’ myself. So definitely take the plunge and get yourself some. And if you can’t bring yourself to spend that much money, try Primark bralettes as they are a game changer.
I hope you enjoyed this post, it was a bit of fun to write about and let’s be real, who doesn’t love lounge wear??
Until next time,
