My Summer Wardrobe Essentials

Oh hey summer, how unexpected of you to pop in with this 26 degree heat.

It’s fair to say we’re rolling into summer now. Or possibly diving right into the deep end. Did Spring even happen? I feel like I barely touched my Spring wardrobe. But this means all the summer style posts which I am so ready for! And today we’re talking my summer wardrobe essentials. I bloomin’ love summer fashion however I find it a tricky one for me. Finding the balance between fashion and comfort, especially in the heat isn’t easy. Especially when I sweat like a nun reading 50 Shades of Grey. Tmi, but anyway, here are some of my essentials for the perfect summer uniform!

There are so many types of tops this season to specify in the title. You’ve got camis, bardot tops, bralets, even wrapping a large head scarf around you. And I’m in love with them all. As the sunnier days started to roll in I started to scroll through all the shops for some good summer tops. As I really didn’t have any. Just those everyday tops to pair with some shorts or a skirt. But hats off to New Look for having the best summer collection for such a good price!

I’d have to say my favourites for the summer are anything with a tie front, camis or any form of printed/plain tee. Pair them with some shorts and you’re good to go!

I love me a good playsuit. Apart from when I need the loo…ladies, you’ll understand. I’m not a huge dress person (even though I’m slowly getting into summer dresses, stay tuned). But I’m all about the playsuits. Whether it be for going out, date night, everyday wear – literally any occasion. And I’ve spent 80% of these heatwaves in a playsuit, as they’re so easy to wear and are just really light and breezy and perfect for this time of year.

I never thought I’d say this, But I’ve become a fan of the old school denim skirts. Like dresses, I’ve never been the biggest skirt fan but after finding one that actually fit me well, I’ve fallen in love. It’s become a staple as they just go with everything. Also, colourful denim skirts are big this summer and I have about 10 different types of red, white and yellow skirts in my wishlists…can you blame me?

I first saw this when Chloe Plumstead was wearing them. And I was kind of on the fence about this trend, it was a bit too old school for me. But they’re growing on me. And I do think they’re a good thing to pop in your summer wardrobe. Especially when you’ve got a long old barnet like myself.

Likewise, bandanas. Now these are a big fave of mine. They’re so simple and cheap but you can use them on so many things. In your hair, as a neck scarf, tied around shorts – it’s so versatile and has a really cool retro vibe. Definitely a vibe I’m not cool enough for…but am 100% still going to try pull off.

So here are a few of my summer wardrobe essentials! I could go on forever, as there were about 20 on the original list, but that would be just a little bit long winded.

What’s in your summer wardrobe?

The Monki skirt is absolutely gorgeous! And I love New Look for their Tees- although I normally pick them up from the kids section haha. I’m the same as you, I was never much of a denim skirt fan until I found some that fit nicely. Great post x

I wish I had summer essentials! I feel like I suck fashion wise when it comes to summer, I feel so much more comfortable in winter time. Also, it just has to be said that you look stunning in all of these photos!
