WHERE DO OUR RETURNED CLOTHES GO? — After a few WHERE DO OUR RETURNED CLOTHES GO? —
After a few conversations I’ve had over the last couple of days, I’m realising that a lot of people don’t know what really happens to our clothes if we return them. If they’re tagged and in good condition then surely they’ll be resold right??

Not quite.

A lot of the time these clothes are sent to landfill or incineration as it’s the cheaper option for brands. Around 17% of our purchases are returned, creating a massive carbon footprint and around 5 billion pounds of waste, fuelling around 15 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.

So - what can we do?

There are many reasons we need to return clothes, and shouldn’t feel guilty because something didn’t fit right or is faulty. But if you can, shop less and shop well. Maybe look into renting or swapping if you can (however I realise this is a big privilege!!). And speak to your favourite brands, let them know your concerns and put pressure on them for transparency around these things! We also need system change to stop big brands creating so much waste, so if I find any movements around this, I will share them as well.

SUSTAINABLE PERIODS — {Contains PR samples} Sust SUSTAINABLE PERIODS —
{Contains PR samples} Sustainable period products have always seemed a little daunting to me. I’ve never really known where to start but it was one change I really wanted to make this year. Enter: @meetdaye - I especially loved the CBD infused tampons which are a godsend with cramps. The cotton is organic and unbleached and they use sustainable packaging. Their applicators are bio-based sugarcane, the wrappers are water soluble and it comes in recyclable materials. They are a great place to start if you’re looking to be a little bit more sustainable this coming year🌍🤍

Simple Ways to Motivate Yourself When You Want to Lose Weight

04/10/2018

/ fitness

Losing weight doesn’t have to be a huge impossible task. After all, it is more than possible for you to shed a couple of pounds without making much effort. The one thing that a lot of people struggle with however is motivation. They find it hard to keep up with their weight loss regime. And they also find it difficult to try and maintain their success as well. If this sounds like you then you are not alone. But there are things that you can do to try and boost your level of motivation and commitment.

Determine the Reason Why

The first thing that you need to do is try and clearly define the reason why you want to lose weight. You then need to write down all of this information. When you have done this, you will soon find that this will help you to stay completely committed. And it will also help you to stay focused as well. For example, if the reason why you want to lose weight is because you are constantly struggling with heartburn then you can try and take Zantac to help with some of the side effects while you try and deal with the underlying problem. Either way, it doesn’t matter why you want to lose weight. As long as you write all of the reasons down. This will help you to stay completely committed and it will also help you to reach your goals as well. If you need some motivation then you can easily look through the points that you have made on a day to day basis to try and remind yourself.

Make sure that Your Expectations are Realistic

Another thing that you need to do is make sure that you have realistic expectations. Sure, there are so many diets out there and they all say that they can help you to lose weight faster than ever before, but you will soon find that most doctors recommend that you only lose a pound or two per week. If you find that you are setting goals that are simply not attainable then this will cause you real problems and you may even find that you give up much easier as well. if you are able to set goals that can be achieved however then this can lead you to feeling very accomplished and it can also help you to feel confident in your own ability as well. There have been studies done on this and they all prove that this is the case.

Pick a Plan

Finding a weight loss plan that suits your needs is so important. If you are not able to find a plan that you can stick with then this will make it even harder for you to lose weight. If you work very long hours then it is going to be very hard for you to get to the gym twice a day or even once a day. The sooner you understand this the better. Of course, that is not to say that you should not go to the gym at all. But it does mean that you should try and set some realistic expectations. Try and make time for the gym at the weekend or even try and reduce your calorie intake. When you do this, you can easily get into good habits and you will feel much happier as a result. You also want to try and avoid super strict diets as well. Most of these diets tell you to eliminate certain foods. But research has found that these diets are much harder for you to stick with. On top of this, it is not very healthy for you to completely eliminate certain food groups.

Keep a Journal

Self-monitoring is crucial if you want to try and lose weight. There is so much research out there that shows that this is crucial to both your motivation and your success. You have to make sure that you are always tracking what you are doing, and that you write down your success as well. It may even help you to write down your failures as well because when you do this, you will feel much better about yourself and the goals that you have set for the future. If you can, you should also write down any emotions that you feel in your journal as well. When you do this, you can then identify certain triggers that may result in you overeating. This will help you to cope much easier and it may even help you to make the right changes for the future.

Celebrate!

Losing weight can be hard at times. And if you feel as though you are constantly having to limit yourself then this will make you feel even worse about your diet. If you want to try and feel better about yourself, then try and celebrate when you are able to achieve something notable. If you manage to drop a couple of pounds in a week then you need to go out with your friends and have a cocktail or two. There is nothing wrong with indulging so that you can celebrate your achievements. But you do have to remember that the more you do this. The higher chance you have of putting the weight back on so try and limit it to once every two weeks or even once a month.

You can even set your celebrations when you get to a certain goal as well. For example, when you are able to drop 10lbs you will go out and treat yourself to that expensive dress you have always wanted. Little things like this can really help you to stay motivated. And it can also help you to feel motivated for what lies ahead and the journey that you are taking in general.

So there are many ways that you can stay motivated when you are trying to lose weight. And when you are able to put the work in, you can be sure to try and get the best result out of your journey.
