Today marks the anniversary of the Rana Plaza inci $Today marks the anniversary of the Rana Plaza incident, the fourth biggest industrial disaster in history. Which also makes today the first day of fashion revolution week. On 24th April 2013, the Rana Plaza factory collapsed killing over 1000 people, and injuring many more. Thus, Fashion Revolution began and hosts a week of action on this tragic incidents anniversary to call for more transparency from big brands and ask the question #WhoMadeMyClothes This year’s theme is rights, relationships and revolutions. Supply chain workers are still underpaid, overworked and unprotected by big fashion brands, especially since the pandemic hit, and sadly we are still seeing too many accounts of gender based violence, union busting, factory fires and much more. I’ve got a few more posts around this coming up, so will explain more then. But for now you can head over to @fash_rev to learn more. They also have a list of ways you can get involved such as: • Ask your favourite brands #WhoMadeMyClothes and #WhoMadeMyFabric (print outs and resources are on the Fashion Revolution website) • Email brands asking for more transparency within their supply chain • Share & amplify the voices and grassroots doing the work • Educate yourself - @fash_rev have some great events lined up which I’d recommend you join if you’re available!
