Hello! Happy Bank holiday weekend, and with a reappearance from the sun I thought I’d talk to you about one of my favourite summer past times – drinking cocktails. If you know me, I love a good cocktail. From a good old pornstar martini, to my own little concoctions from whatever I can find in the house. And after my Oxford brunch blog post, I thought I’d team up with my lovely blogger friend Hannah, and share our favourite cocktail places in Oxford. So whether you’re looking for somewhere for girls night, date night, work drinks you won’t go wrong with these places! So, without further ado…
OXO BAR
Looking for a good martini in Oxford? Well, look no further. As well as their amazing atmosphere and lovely staff, they do the best martinis in Oxford. Of course I went for my favourite, a good old espresso martini. And they mastered the classic. It’s the perfect location for special occasions and celebrating with friends.
Hannah, likewise, went for her old faithful – a pornstar martini. She actually introduced me to OXO bar and says: OXO is the best place to go when you’re meeting friends or want a quick happy hour cocktail because of its great and convenient location on George Street. It has great music, and has djs who play there – what more could you want?
DIRTY BONES
Dirty Bones is perfect for every occasion – date night, drinks with the girls, business talks. They also have an extensive menu meaning there’s a tipple for everyone, especially with the introduction of their low alcohol/no alcohol cocktails. I would highly recommend the wave hill spritz – it’s a light, fruity cocktail perfect to have alongside some weekend lunch.
It’s one of Hannah’s personal faves. It’ll transport you to 90’s New York with the music, moody interiors and uh-mazing mac & cheese. She also said how she loves how there’s a low alcohol option, it’s great that you can enjoy events with friends and family without feeling the need to drink a lot. Her favourite is the Uptown Spritz, it’s like an Aperol Spritz but better!
VICTORS
Situated on the Westgate rooftop, Victors is a great place to go for those extra special moments. It has a great menu of classic and signature cocktails, and one of the most beautiful interiors. It’s on the pricier side of the spectrum, but it’s worth it! I’d highly recommend trying the Each Peach cocktail, and maybe even some Victors Rolls if you’re getting peckish.
Hannah and I agree that for some great cocktails, and great Instas, this is the place to be. They have some great mocktails too!
HANDLE BAR
What is, by a day, a quirky cafe (which also does great brunch), becomes a cosy bar called ‘Le Bar’ by evening. Serving a great range of really well priced cocktails, so is perfect to go with friends for a couple of casual drinks. You can try some amazing cocktails at a good price in a cosy atmosphere with great company. I would recommend the ‘Chai Chai Again’, Hannah said she wanted to try the Smokey Handle as it’s got aperol in, can you blame her?
Happy drinking! Make sure you check out Hannah’s post to see the other half of our cocktail bar recommendations.
